It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; - St. John Paul II

Hi there! I'm Maria.

I’m a Catholic Wife and Mom and I like pretty things.

I believe we are drawn to beauty because deep down it reminds us of the God who created us and of our true home in heaven.

I've worn a lot of titles in my life.  Here are just a few: Air Force Officer, Program/Project Manager, Professional Chef, Business Professor.   But, these are just things I've done, not what I am or who I am.  It's taken me some time to learn this.  My favorite titles though are Wife and Mom and I try really hard to do right by those.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and let's talk about:

Beautiful Projects.

I LOVE projects of all kinds: the home improvement kind, the home beautification kind, the home styling kind.  All of it.

Beautiful Words.

I also love hand lettering, watercolors and quotes.

So. Much. Pretty.

Soon I'll be able to share some fun printables with you too!

Our Beautiful Catholic Faith.

I haven't always lived out my faith like I should.  Blame it on youth, ignorance, immaturity, selfishness, or just plain stupidity and stubbornness. There was a time when I felt indifferent about all of it and thought I could find the beauty I was looking for in other religions, other practices, other ways of living.

But in each thing I chased after, it just felt empty, like something was missing.

And then we (my husband and I) found our way back.  Nothing dramatic, no burning bush or thunder, or moment of divine revelation.  It was just this gentle tug, like a parent who smiles and motions for their child to sit down beside them.

And so we sat.

I sat in the church with a hardened heart, but I was there. Hesitation, doubt and a good dose of egotism sat right alongside me but I returned week after week. I didn't feel anything extraordinary but knew I was supposed to be there.

Little by little, using my shortcomings and weakness, my stubbornness and pride, God has softened by heart.

He's funny that way.

And this conversion thing is a life long process.

There are so many breathtakingly beautiful things about this ancient faith that I have only recently been able to appreciate.  Our faith doesn’t sit stagnant inside the cold walls of a stone church, it lives and breathes and permeates our lives and brings so much joy but only if we allow it.

Here you will also find our family's imperfect attempts at living liturgically and finding the sacred in the every day.

I'm excited to get to know you, to hear about your projects and the beauty you find in your life.  I hope we can share and chat and grow in our walk with Christ.
